UCBR Listening Sessions Scheduled on Proposed Amendments to Regulations
The Unemployment Compensation Board of Review (UCBR) is in the process of considering potential amendments to modernize its regulations at Chapter 101 in Title 34 of the Pennsylvania Code. The reason for the amendments is to update terminology, incorporate language addressing current and future technology advancements, and, importantly, to allow for changes to processes which will enable UCBR to improve its services to the public.
Additionally, UCBR is considering broadening the circumstances under which a party may be scheduled to participate in a hearing remotely, as permitted under the law, while still retaining the right of the party to an in-person hearing. Your input on this topic, as well as other appeal issues in the regulations, will be valuable.
These regulations govern unemployment compensation appeals and may impact all participants entitled to an appeals hearing. To give broad opportunity for input and to enhance UCBR’s ability to fully consider the needs and desires of the full spectrum of parties that it serves, the UCBR is scheduling in-person listening sessions regionally throughout Pennsylvania.
It is UCBR’s desire to continue to receive public input while preparing the proposal to amend the regulations. Although there will be further opportunity for public comment, this is the best time to provide input to be considered in the updates.
Listening sessions for the amendments to UCBR regulations are planned to be held as follows:
- Scranton: June 27, 2023
- Allentown: June 28, 2023
- Harrisburg: July 6, 2023
- Erie: July 12, 2023
- Pittsburgh: July 13, 2023
- Philadelphia: August 2, 2023
- Philadelphia: August 3, 2023
UCBR will determine the facility for each listening session based on the anticipated number of guests.
If you would like to attend a UCBR listening session at one of these locations, please RSVP online by Monday, June 12, 2023.
After UCBR compiles the list of attendees per location, you will be notified of the address and confirmed dates of the session. If you have a question or would like further information regarding the listening sessions, please send an email to RA-LIUCBR-REGCOMM@pa.gov.
