PA Supreme Court Adopts Rule Changes Regarding Court Reporting and Transcripts
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued an Order on August 12, 2016 adopting amendments to Rules 4001-4016 of the Pennsylvania Rules of Judicial Administration relating to court reporting and transcripts.
The new rules adopt changes regarding the standardization of rates for transcripts; offers clarification on how transcripts are paid; and offers clarification on the right to no-cost transcripts for a party proceeding in forma pauperis, or to proceed at no-cost or at a reduced-cost for other parties who demonstrate that they do not have the ability to pay the cost of the transcript.
The rules will be effective on January 1, 2017, except in the First Judicial District (Philadelphia), in which the amendments will be effective July 1, 2017.
