2012 Public Interest Law Day in Philadelphia

The Public Interest Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association will be holding it's annual Public Interest Law Day on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. The day will feature the Public Interest Law Day CLE, Keeping Up in Turbulent Times: Public Interest Practice in 2012, followed in the evening with the Public Interest Section Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception.

The Public Interest Law Day CLE, Keeping Up in Turbulent Times: Public Interest Practice in 2012, will be held at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, 10th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19107 from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. The Public Interest Section Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception, requiring a separate registration, will be held at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. The Awards Celebration will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m and will feature the Presentation of the Andrew Hamilton Award to Catherine C. Carr, Executive Director, Community Legal Services.

Keeping Up in Turbulent Times: Public Interest Practice in 2012

This full day CLE program will offer 5 substantive and 1 ethics CLE credits and will present a wide array of hot topics in public interest law for public interest attorneys, pro bono practitioners, judges and private practice attorneys who are interested in learning more about public interest law and cutting edge issues affecting the pro bono legal community.

The opening panel presentation will address how a hypothetical family continues to struggle in the recession and how changes in the law and policy have affected them in areas such as employment, education and immigration.

Public Interest Section Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception

The annual Awards Ceremony and Reception will be held at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia, beginning at 5:30 pm. A separate registration is required for the Awards Ceremony and Reception.

The Awards Celebration will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m and will feature  the Presentation of the Andrew Hamilton Award.

The Awards Ceremony will also include:

  • The Morris M. Shuster Fellowship awards,
  • The selection of the Higginbotham Fellowship, and
  • The presentation of the 2012 Law Student Awards.

The reception will immediately follow the Award Ceremony.

Reception includes a Two-Hour Open Bar and Heavy Hors D'Oeuvres.

Please note there will be a $10 increase for walk-ins at the door.
