Webinar: Utility moratorium ending soon - What you need to know!

Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania logoThe Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project and  Community Legal Services invite you to join a webinar on October 27, 2020 from 12:00 PM–1:15 PM for an update and overview of what you need to know to ensure low income households do not see a disruption to utility service this winter.

Background

On October 8th, the Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC) modified the emergency order originally issued in March which suspended all public utility terminations. Utility termination and collections will resume on November 9th for customers behind on payment. This applies to all electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, telecommunications, and steam utilities subject to the PUC’s jurisdiction.

Households at or below 300% of the federal poverty level  will need to apply for all available assistance programs and enter into payment arrangements with the utility, if needed, or risk having their services shut-off.
