Webinar: Legal Basics - Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Justice in Aging will be holding a webinar entitled Legal Basics: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) on April 11, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Eastern.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a critical safety net program administered by the Social Security Administration that provides a very basic income to older adults and people with disabilities with no or only limited other income and resources. This webinar is designed for legal services and other advocates who are just getting started in the field and others who want to learn more about the essentials of the program.

This webinar will cover the basic rules surrounding the SSI program, which provides modest financial support to older adults and people with disabilities who lack other resources. We will describe the program and discuss the basic rules of eligibility, how benefits are calculated, and provide suggestions on where to go if you need further information.

Presenters:

  • Trinh Phan, Senior Staff Attorney, Justice in Aging
  • Jenny Chung Mejia, Senior Staff Attorney, Justice in Aging
