Self-Represented Litigation Network Preconference at Equal Justice Conference
The Self-Represented Litigation Network is hosting a preconference day at the Equal Justice Conference in Phoenix on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
The agenda will include a report on the Library Initiative which involves efforts the Self-Represented Litigation Network has been making to reach out into the Public Library community. These efforts began with a two-day conference on Public Libraries and Access to Justice, which was held in Austin TX in January, with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the National Center for State Courts.
That conference resulted in mini-grants being awarded to organizations in ten states to assist with follow up on launching the ideas discussed at the Conference. As a result of the January conference, there will also be a presentation at the Public Library Association Conference in Portland, Oregon on March 25, on Public Libraries and Access to Justice.
Other issues on the agenda for the Preconference include a discussion of e-filing, a presentation on courts and LEP issues, reports on the Diagnostic Protocols Project and the Plain Language Court Order Project, as well as problem solving and reporting time.
Registration is $45 added to the main Conference fee, to cover lunch.
