Advocacy Exchange: Fighting Wage Theft with the Witness in Your Pocket

Shriver Center logoThe Clearinghouse Community, part of the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law, will be holding the August 2018 episode of the Advocacy Exchange webcast, Fighting Wage Theft with the Witness in Your Pocket, on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm Eastern. The Advocacy Exchange is a monthly conversation hosted by the Clearinghouse Community with advocates advancing change.

Victims of wage theft often face a lack of reliable evidence to support their claims for unpaid wages. But what if the evidence they need was in their pocket the whole time? Attorneys at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia and their partners at Hack4Impact created a web-based tool to turn cell phone location history into evidence of hours spent at a workplace.

Join the September 2018 episode of the Advocacy Exchange for a conversation with two attorneys from Community Legal Services of Philadelphia, Michael Hollander and Nate Vogel, who will discuss this innovative idea of using cell phone data as evidence and how that evidence can be used in wage-theft cases.

For more, be sure to read Michael and Nate’s forthcoming Clearinghouse article, “The Witness in Your Pocket,” available in early September.
