Social Security Publishes Revised Medical Criteria for Evaluating Hearing Loss

The Social Security Administration has published revised criteria in the Listing of Impairments that are used to evaluate claims involving hearing loss under Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income programs.

The revisions reflect SSA'sa adjudicative experience, advances in medical knowledge, treatment, and methods of evaluating hearing loss, and public comments received in response to a prior Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM).

The new rules are effective August 2, 2010.
