Webinar: What Restoration of General Assistance Means for Pennsylvanians and How You Can Help

Community Legal Services logoCommunity Legal Services of Philadelphia will be holding a webinar on Friday, September 14, 2018 entitled What Restoration of General Assistance Means for Pennsylvanians and How You Can Help from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM.

On July 18, 2018, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court voted 7-0 to repeal Act 80 of 2012, which eliminated General Assistance (GA) that year. This cash assistance program provides a minimal income support for desperately poor individuals with serious disabilities, people fleeing domestic violence, and individuals in active drug treatment for limited periods of time. The Pennsylvania Department of  Human Services has already started taking applications for GA again.

Join this webinar to learn from lawyers at Community Legal Services about who can qualify for GA, and how you can help Pennsylvanians receive this lifeline to pay for transportation, medical co-pays, a phone, or a roof over their heads. The webinar will also cover changes to the TANF cash assistance program as a result of the repeal of Act 80.
