Client Participation in LSC Program Quality Visits

Legal Services CorporationThe Legal Services Corporation has announced a pilot project in which individuals eligible for services as clients at LSC-funded legal aid programs will join LSC staff on visits to assess the quality of legal aid programs. The goal of the project is to explore how LSC can better obtain the client’s perspective in evaluating the services that a legal aid program provides.

LSC will select three client representatives who will each go on three visits during 2016 and 2017. In order to be able to participate, a candidate:

  1. Must be eligible for services at an LSC-funded legal aid program;
  2. Must (a) be currently serving as a board member of a legal aid program not funded by LSC or (b) have previously served as a board member of a legal aid program; and
  3. Must be available for travel of up to one week on three occasions in 2016 and 2017 and be willing to commit to work full days during each program visit.

Other considerations for participation include a candidate’s other board governance experience, if any; capacity for strong, effective communication; and ability to work with LSC’s visit teams. LSC staff will provide the selected participants with extensive in-person training and preparation.

To be considered for this project, please complete the application and submit it by May 6, 2016, electronically to ClientPilotInfo@lsc.gov or by fax to LSC to the attention of Althea Hayward at (202) 337-6813.
