CLE Program: Human Trafficking Victim Advocacy

North Penn Legal Services logoNorth Penn Legal Services is hosting a free virtual CLE presentation for attorneys and other advocates entitled Human Trafficking Victim Advocacy on January 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM-2:30 PM Eastern. The program will be held on the Zoom platform.

North Penn Legal Services staff communicates with thousands of applicants each year, many of whom are in crisis and coping with poverty, housing instability or homelessness, or domestic violence or other trauma. Human traffickers take advantage of people who are vulnerable, and we should have a basic working knowledge of how a trafficking victim might present to us. 

Unfortunately, the public perception of human trafficking is often very different from the reality. This training will provide an overview of human trafficking and what it may actually look like, its occurrence in our area, indications that someone may be a victim, and resources that can provide help.

Presenter:

Korrin Moon

Korrin Moon is President and Founder of Lantern Rescue, a non-profit organization that focusing on capacity building of locals to increase their abilities to rescue fellow citizens from human trafficking. Lantern Rescue operates in 13 countries and has rescued over 2,000 victims since its founding in 2020. 

Korrin is also currently assigned as a special prosecutor in the Lycoming County District Attorney’s office, focusing on crimes of human trafficking and CSAM. Korrin served in the Marine Corps as a Russian Cryptologic Linguist after receiving her bachelor’s degree in political science from Lycoming College. Korrin attended law school at Penn State.

This program has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.0 hours of substantive law, practice and procedure CLE credit.
