Update on SNAP Employment and Training (Webinar)-CANCELLED

IN LIGHT OF THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC, THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. is offering a webinar entitled Update on SNAP Employment and Training on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 from 1:00 PM– 2:00 PM Eastern.

This webinar will explore education and training opportunities for our clients who receive SNAP, but not TANF.  The number of TANF households is rapidly diminishing, which means that more and more of our clients who want to pursue training opportunities will need to do so through the SNAP program.

The presenters will discuss which of DHS’s programs SNAP participants are eligible to participate in; the option of “self-initiating” into education and training programs; and the availability of child care subsidy and special allowances for supportive services for SNAP participants, as well as how they can access those services.

How SNAP recipients can qualify for an exemption from the three-month time limit for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs), or how they can comply with the work requirement will also be discussed.

Presenters:

  • Peter Zurflieh, Community Justice Project
  • Louise Hayes, Community Legal Services of Philadelphia
