SSI/SSDI Skill Building Webinar - SSA and Language Access: Part One
Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. has scheduled an SSI/SSDI Skill Building Webinar entitled SSA and Language Access: Part One on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 2:00 PM-3:30 PM Eastern.
Chi-Ser Tran (Community Legal Services of Philadelphia), Peter Zurflieh (Community Justice Project), and Casey Dwyer (Community Legal Services of Philadelphia) will present on what SSI/SSDI advocates should know regarding SSA and language access. The presentation will cover SSA’s language access policies and obligations; common language access issues at the Field Office, BDD (and IMA), and hearing levels; advocacy efforts to improve language access; and what advocates can do to address various language access issues. There will also be time for group discussion and troubleshooting.
This training is part one of a two-part series on SSA and language access. Part two will involve hearing from SSA representatives and will occur in the fall.
CLE Credit
This program has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 1.0 hours of substantive law, practice and procedure CLE credit and 0.5 hours of ethics, professionalism or substance abuse CLE credit.
