MAWD and Medicare Savings Programs (Webinar)

Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. is offering a webinar entitled MAWD and Medicare Savings Programs on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

This webinar will cover eligibility for two important types of Medicaid which may be available to people with disabilities, and to certain older adults, and are often a source of confusion.

Medical Assistance for Workers with Disabilities (MAWD) can provide full Medicaid coverage for individuals with disabilities who are under 65, and have incomes or resources higher than other Medicaid categories—as long as they have any earnings and are willing to pay an income based premium (often $50-$60/month) for their coverage.

The Medicare Savings Programs are also known as the Medicare Buy-In, and are Medicaid programs that pay for the cost of Medicare Part B, and, for some recipients, also pay for Medicare co-pays and deductibles.

Some individuals will have to choose between MAWD and the Medicare Buy-In, and some will only be eligible for one or the other.  This webinar will cover eligibility for these programs, and how to advise clients who have to choose between them.

Presenters:

  • Amy Hirsch, Community Legal Services of Philadelphia
