North Penn Legal Services is hosting a virtual presentation entitled The New Lehigh County Human Relations Ordinance: What the Most Inclusive Non-Discrimination Law in Pennsylvania Protects and Why Other Municipalities Are Adopting Its Language on June 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM Eastern.
This dynamic presentation will familiarize legal professionals working with the new Lehigh County Anti-Discrimination Human Relations Ordinance. Learn to identify and list the ordinance’s expanded protected classes, and identify areas where this law applies, along with other unique areas of protection the ordinance covers.
Attendees will learn how to file discrimination complaints and what will happen with the complaint when the Commission begins its review. Attendees will learn how the LC HR Ordinance differs from state and federal law. How successful complainants can find redress in the Court of Common Pleas will also be covered. How the Commission is made up and how it functions will be covered. There will be time for comments and questions.
Presenter:
Liz Bradbury (she/her) is the Chair of the Lehigh County Human Relations Commission and the lead author of Lehigh County’s groundbreaking non-discrimination ordinance enacted in February 2024, the most progressive of its kind in Pennsylvania.
In 2002, Bradbury spearheaded Pennsylvania's first municipal civil rights law to include Gender Identity alongside Sexual Orientation. Her advocacy has contributed to the passage of 17 additional municipal and state LGBTQIA+ equal rights laws.
Bradbury served 15 years on the Allentown Human Relations Commission, including three as Chair, creating investigative guidelines and training commissioners.
Co-founder of the Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Alliance for Political Action (1994) and founder of the Pennsylvania Diversity Network in 2004, she served as CEO for ten years until it evolved into the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBTQ Community Center (BSC), named in honor of Bradbury and her spouse, Patricia Sullivan. At BSC, Bradbury directed the Training Institute until 2023, educating over 17,000 individuals from more than 300 organizations.
Bradbury currently serves as CEO and Board Chair of Keystone Equality.
