The National Center on Law & Elder Rights is hosting a free webinar entitled Elder Abuse Basics: Civil Legal Response on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM Eastern. 

Many different service providers and systems work to address elder abuse. Older adults who have experienced maltreatment often benefit from services provided by a wide range of professionals, including civil legal aid attorneys. This basics training will focus on how legal assistance providers can work to:

• Prevent or reduce the risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation;
• Provide options for intervention to stop abuse and place the person in a position of safety when abuse occurs; and
• Help restore the person who has experienced abuse to a stronger position, including through civil action to recover damages and assets based on various legal causes of action. 

Presenters will also share resources and cover the importance of building awareness of abuse in your community.
