Free Webinar: When Energy "Savings" Cost More: Understanding Electric and Gas Shopping - Nov. 9, 2026
Pennsylvania Utility Law Project is presenting a free webinar entitled When Energy "Savings" Cost More: Understanding Electric and Gas Shopping on November 9, 2026 from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Eastern.
Pennsylvania is known for its frigid winters, and heating costs are on the rise again. When energy supplier offers show up in mailboxes, at front doors, and via phone calls promising big savings, it's tempting to want to enroll. But for households already struggling to keep up with utility bills, the wrong choice can make things worse. Variable rates can spike without warning, “teaser” prices can expire, and contract terms can be hard to understand.
Join Elizabeth Marx, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project (PULP) to get a practical look at the risks of shopping for electric and gas suppliers. We’ll explain how supplier offers work, the red flags to watch for, and what protections and resources are available if something goes wrong.
Registration is free, but required. All registrants, regardless of your ability to attend live, will receive the slides, recording, and other materials.
If you have any accessibility or translation needs, please reach out to Madi Keaton at mkeaton@pautilitylawproject.org as soon as possible.
