LSC/ACUS Webinar: Promoting Effective Representation in Federal Administrative Proceedings - May 11

Legal Services Corporation logoJoin the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) and the Administrative Conference of the United States for an ongoing webinar series about increasing access to justice for parties in federal agency administrative proceedings.

Through this series, the agencies are exploring how to help more people navigate administrative adjudication effectively, avoid delays or denials of benefits, and ensure that their rights and interests are protected.

For Part 2, entitled Promoting Effective Representation in Federal Administrative Proceedings, on May 11, at 1:00 PM Eastern, legal aid lawyers from Los Angeles and Philadelphia will share their best practices for training staff and pro bono attorneys to assist low-income clients with applications for or appeals involving federal benefits.

We’ll also hear from government leaders whose agencies provide training and professional development opportunities to help less experienced advocates represent their clients’ interests more effectively.

Speakers include:

  • Kristen Dama, Managing Attorney – SSI Unit and Medical Legal Partnership, Community Legal Services of Philadelphia
  • Janet Gongola, Vice Chief Judge for Engagement at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Lauren Alder Reid, Assistant Director for the Office of Policy, Executive Office of Immigration Review, U.S. Department of Justice
  • Robyn Smith, Senior Attorney, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles

A recording of the webinar will be available afterward on LSC’s YouTube channel.
