LIHEAP Season Extended to April 18, 2025

PULP logoThe Pennsylvania Utility Law Project (PULP) reports that the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) season has been extended until Friday, April 18, 2025

The season was originally scheduled to run from November 4, 2024, to April 4, 2025, but that has now been extended to April 18, 2025. During the LIHEAP season you can apply for a cash grant to help pay your heating bill. You can receive from $200 to $1,000 based on your household size, income, and fuel type.

PULP reminds consumers that as we begin to enjoy the warmer weather, remember that with the sunshine brings the end of the winter moratorium on utility shutoffs – which ends March 31, 2025. After that date, utilities may again shut off electricity, gas, and heat-related water services to families who are behind on their bills, so it is critical that families who could use LIHEAP funds apply for it as soon as possible.

If you are experiencing an emergency related to your household’s heat, you may be eligible to receive additional funds through a crisis grant. Learn more about the LIHEAP program.

Applications for LIHEAP Benefits can be filed online through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services COMPASS website, which is an online tool for Pennsylvanians to apply for many health and human service programs and manage benefit information.
