Free Webinar: Thawing of the Shift Care Freeze: What Families Can Expect

Pennsylvania Health Law Project logoPennsylvania Health Law Project the hosting a free webinar entitled Thawing of the Shift Care Freeze: What Families Can Expect on October 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM Eastern.

During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) temporarily suspended the need for a Medicaid health insurer or plan to determine medical necessity (also called prior authorization) for children receiving shift care services like skilled nursing and home health aide. However, DHS recently announced that the freeze on pediatric shift care services will lift on November 1, 2022.

In this webinar, families will learn what to expect when the shift care freeze ends, as well as practical tips for preparing for the thawing of the shift care freeze, like getting prior authorization packets ready and understanding appeal rights if services are reduced or terminated after November.

Closed captioning will be available for this session. If you have any questions or require accomodations to participate in this webinar, please contact Danna Casserly at dcasserly@phlp.org.
