The ABA/NLADA Equal Justice Conference Honors the Life and Legacy of Alan Houseman

Alan HousemanThe ABA/NLADA Equal Justice Conference joins the legal community in honoring the life and legacy of Alan Houseman, who passed away in February 2025.  

NLADA is compiling a video tribute which will be shared at the conference in San Francisco, May 15-17, 2025, and invites you to share your reflections on the impact Alan made in your work and your community:  

  • Go to Tribute for Alan Houseman to record and/or upload a short video. 
  • Click the red “Add your video” button to get started. 
  • You will be able to choose whether you want to record on the device you are using or if you want to upload a video you prerecord. 
  • Save the video file as your name.

  • You are invited to respond to the question prompts or share your own reflection. 
  • Please limit your recording to 1-2 minutes

The deadline for uploading your message is Monday, May 5.    

Alan Houseman was the Founder and Director of Legal Services Corporation’s (LSC) Research Institute. The institute was responsible for significant new approaches in poverty law and investigating the delivery of civil legal aid services. 

Houseman was also responsible for funding national and state support centers and the National Clearinghouse (now known as the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law) while at LSC.
