Temporary Bilingual Public Benefits Paralegal - Community Justice Project

The Community Justice Project is hiring a temporary bilingual (English and Spanish-speaking) Public Benefits Paralegal to work out of its Scranton or Hazleton, PA office. This posting is for a temporary (now through August 31, 2027), full-time position.
Overview of the Community Justice Project:
The Community Justice Project (“CJP”) is a statewide, unrestricted legal aid program that is part of Pennsylvania’s Legal Aid Network. CJP conducts broad advocacy in all forms and subject areas, which includes civil rights, employment, housing, consumer, immigration, and public benefits work.
Job Description:
The Temporary Bilingual Public Benefits Paralegal will staff a public benefits hotline, conduct public benefits outreach, and staff public benefits clinics.
This is a temporary, limited duration (now through Aug. 31, 2027) position. The position is hybrid, with the ability to work remotely one or two days per week.
Job Requirements:
The Temporary Bilingual Public Benefits Paralegal must have at least an associate degree and be fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Strong organizational and communications skills and a commitment to CJP’s low-income client community are also important. Prior paralegal experience is not necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Temporary Bilingual Public Benefits Paralegal will be a non-exempt employee. The starting, entry-level compensation for employees at the Paralegal I level is $18.74/hour, though candidates will be assessed for the possibility of starting at the Paralegal II level. In addition, full time employees are eligible for CJP’s benefits package, including health insurance, dental and vision insurance, retirement contributions, and paid parental leave.
