Student Loan Updates: Navigating the Changing Student Loan Landscape (Webinar)
Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, Inc. is hosting a virtual training entitled Student Loan Updates: Navigating the Changing Student Loan Landscape on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Student loan borrowers today carry over $1.7 trillion in debt and face an increasingly complex student loan system that is undergoing major legal and policy changes. Legal challenges have disrupted repayment plans, delayed forgiveness, and cast doubt on long-standing relief programs, just as protections against the most severe consequences of student loan default are ending.
As of May, the federal government has resumed involuntary collections on defaulted loans, including tax refund seizure and Social Security offsets, without needing to first go to court; wage garnishment is expected to follow soon. At the same time, the Department of Education has initiated a rulemaking process to examine potential changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program and income-driven repayment plans.
Whether you're managing your own loans or assisting clients, this one-hour webinar will cover key legal updates, practical strategies for borrowers, and advocacy tools for effective client representation.
