The Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network Housing Law Group will be holding a two-day training program entitled PLAN Housing 101 - Overview of PA Landlord-Tenant Law and Subsidized Housing, on April 27-28, 2023 at the Hilton Harrisburg, One North Second Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101.

This substantive two-day training will provide a basic overview of select topics in Pennsylvania landlord-tenant law and procedure and subsidized housing law and procedure. Attendees will gain an understanding of general concepts, tricks of the trade, what questions to ask when faced with certain types of cases, and where to find the legal resources you need to out-research your opponent.

Agenda

Day 1: 11:30 am - 4:30 pm – Landlord-Tenant 101

• When does the Landlord-Tenant Act apply
• Available defenses and counterclaims
• Special situations like self-help eviction, utility issues, mobile homes and rent-to-own

Day 2: 8:30 am - 1:30 pm – Subsidized Housing 101

• Overview of subsidized housing programs
• How to find what program applies to your client’s housing
• Admissions, Evictions and Occupancy
• Fair housing, VAWA and HUD homeless programs

This training is designed for new advocates and those with some housing experience, but practitioners at all experience levels will come away with useful tools and strategies.

PLAN will provide lunch on April 27 and breakfast and a boxed lunch on April 28. Dinner on the evening of the 27th will be on your own.  PLAN will also cover the cost of the CLE credits for attendees and presenters.

Attendees will get a special rate which PLAN has negotiated but will be responsible for payment of the overnight accommodations and parking on their own.

The cost of a room is $159 per night plus tax and $5 per day for parking.

Day attendees will need to get their parking pass validated and will be responsible for paying for their parking at $5 per day.

CLE Credits

This program has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 9.5 hours of substantive law, practice and procedure CLE credit for full attendance of the training.
