2020 PLAN Virtual Conference logo

Registration is now open for the 2020 PLAN Statewide Virtual Training Conference.  Being unable to hold our annual conference in-person, due to the pandemic, we have put together a virtual conference for the months of September and October

Click Here for instructions on how to create your account with the conference app we are using this year, Sched.  Many of you are familiar with this app because it has been used for other conferences within the Legal Services Community.

Links to register for individual webinars will appear in the workshop summaries. Registrants must register for individual webinars to gain admittance to the webinar. To register for an individual session you will click on the session in the app and you will see, on the session page, a button that will take you to the Zoom registration screen so that you can complete registration.

Our kickoff event is A Conversation with DHS Secretary Teresa Miller which is scheduled for September 10, 2020 from 12:15 PM – 1:45 PM.

We will be livestreaming this event through YouTube Live and will be sending a link to those who register for it using the link below.

We are honored that Secretary Miller has agreed to speak with us at the opening of our conference. As you’ll hear when she speaks, Secretary Miller is a genuine supporter of the work that we do each day for low income households. This session will be a combination of an address by Secretary Miller to our community and a moderated question and answer time.

Also note: CLE credits for each session are being updated.  Please check back to see which sessions will be substantive and which will include ethics credits.

Trial Advocacy Skills Training

This year’s Trial Advocacy Skills Training for New Advocates has been converted to a three-day, virtual training event. The target audience remains PLAN attorneys with less than five years of practice experience. Experienced attorneys are welcome to participate; however, priority will be given to our intended audience. The goal of this training is to assist public interest attorneys in honing their trial advocacy skills.

Beginning on Wednesday, September 30 through Friday, October 1, 2020, PLAN will host a series of five (5), sixty (60) minute virtual training sessions, providing for 4.0 CLE substantive credits and 1.0 CLE ethics credit. While our presenters are committed to making these sessions as interactive as possible, the general format will be lecture/panel discussions.

This training will not include a homework assignment nor role play exercises.
