May 21: 38th Annual Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Run/Walk

Change the story for abused and neglected children. Participate in the 38th Annual Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park and race to help abused children find more stable lives. The Philadelphia Bar Association 5K Run/Walk attracts more than 1,300 runners and walkers of all ages each year, and is one of the oldest and most respected events of its kind in the City of Philadelphia! The Run/Walk format provides the opportunity for athletes of all levels to participate in this charity event organized by the Philadelphia Bar Association to spotlight its concern for the children of Philadelphia and to benefit the Support Center for Child Advocates. People of all ages will enjoy fun, family-friendly activities including the Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Kids Dash, the Caesar Rivise Team Competition, Face Painting, Balloon Animals and more! Caesar Rivise PC Team Competition: Law firms, corporations and groups of individuals (not from the same law firm) may enter 5K Run teams. May 17: 2017 SeniorLAW Center Gala: Age Out Loud

The 2017 SeniorLAW Center Gala: Age Out Loud will be held on May 17, 2017, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Crystal Tea Room, 100 East Penn Square, Philadelphia, PA 19107 The gala benefits the nonprofit SeniorLAW Center and its work seeking justice for Pennsylvania’s seniors. Based in Philadelphia, SeniorLAW Center protects the rights of older Pennsylvanians through free legal representation, education, and advocacy. Since its founding in 1978, SeniorLAW Center has served over 400,000 older Pennsylvanians, including survivors of elder abuse, grandparents raising grandchildren, seniors at risk of homelessness, eviction and foreclosure, and other seniors 60 -100+ years old. SeniorLAW Center’s staff of attorneys advocate locally, statewide, and nationally for access to justice, safe housing, victims’ rights, intergenerational families, and elder justice. Mar 13: Philadelphia VIP Awards Ceremony

Philadelphia VIP, the hub of pro bono legal services in Philadelphia, will be holding its Annual Awards Ceremony on March 13, 2017 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102. The Awards Ceremony will take place from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm followed by a Cocktail Reception from 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Formal Attire encouraged. Light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails will be served. The Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania is holding a webinar entitled "Foreclosure Prevention and How to Help Homeowners" on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The webinar will provide all the basics of the foreclosure process, including prevention, do’s and don’ts, and remediation options. The presenters will offer helpful tips on how to navigate the process and explore options such as housing counseling, loss mitigation, loan modifications, and bankruptcy. The program will take place on January 25, 2017 from 8:30 am - 9:30 am. This program will provide an overview of Philadelphia VIP and the opportunities and resources available to our volunteers.
