Laurel Legal Services, Inc., which provides free legal aid to indigent clients in a six county service area, is currently seeking applicants for a Staff Attorney position. This position is based out of the Johnstown office, but will require travel both within Cambria County as well as the other six counties Laurel Legal serves.

General Definition of Work:

Laurel Legal Services, Inc., which provides free legal aid to indigent clients in a six county service area, is currently seeking applicants for a Staff Attorney position. This position is based out of the Johnstown office, but will require travel both within Cambria County as well as the other six counties Laurel Legal serves.

This work primarily involves interviewing clients to determine eligibility for services and the existence of legal problems and counseling/advising individuals in person or by telephone. The incumbent will also be expected to prepare and review various legal documents such as pleadings, motions, appeals, briefs and legal memorandum. This is also an opportunity to gain significant Courtroom experience. Case work will involve a myriad of legal issues.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to Practice Law in the State of Pennsylvania
  • No prior legal experience required, one to three years preferred specifically representing indigent clients.
